This was a joint event with the Chief Executives Forum of Northern Ireland
ACESA members and alumni travelled to Belfast to join colleagues from the Chief Executives Forum of Northern Ireland (CEF) for an event focused on Artificial Intelligence.
Guest speakers included Ciaran Martin, Cyber Security Expert; Mark O’Flaherty, Chief Information Officer for BT’s Emergency Service Network.
Presentations covered the need for public bodies to gain confidence with new technologies, and discussions explored how to prepare for the future of AI without fear.
Special thanks were given to Sir David Sterling and Anne Dickson for their invitation. The event took place at BT Tower, Belfast.
Ciaran Martin
Ciaran Martin founded the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre and served as its first CEO. He holds the position of Professor of Practice at Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government and is a leading global authority on cyber security. He is also a fellow at Hertford College, Oxford.
Ciaran is a 23-year veteran of the UK Government, having worked directly with five Prime Ministers and a variety of senior Ministers across three political parties. He held senior positions at HM Treasury and the Cabinet Office, as well as GCHQ. He was head of the Cabinet Secretary’s Office and led the official negotiations that led to the agreed terms and rules for the Scottish independence referendum.

Mark O’Flaherty
